School Takeover: A Case Study in Compton, CA was produced, written and directed by Heather Finnegan and Scott Rivera. Heather shot her first documentary, More than Rice , in 1995, while studying abroad in China. The 51 minute piece has aired on PBS in Hawaii, showed in the 1998 Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and at the Association for Asian Studies National Conference. More Than Rice is distributed by Carousel Films, NY. Currently, Heather works as an assistant producer of A&E Biographies at Peter Jones Productions. Heather has worked as a research assistant/reader for Paramount Pictures and Phoenix Pictures. She has also worked on-set for several independent feature films. Heather is a graduate of the University of Michigan. Scott has directed two shorts, Inclination and Take-off , and is currently in pre-production on the documentary, Welcome to Harlem World, a historic look at a New York nightclub's role in the birth of hip-hop music. When Scott is not working on his own projects, he does set lighting on independent feature films, videos and commercials. School Takeover is Scott's first documentary project. Scott is a graduate of film and television studies from the University of Wisconsin. |
